My dream home

I want to own a home away from home somewhere in the mountains, by the lake in harmony with nature. It will be a small house, with a romantic backdrop of oak trees and Spanish moss. A lush green manicured lawn and an array of flowers will grace the space of my backyard. I’ll grow herbs, tomatoes, pumpkins, hibiscus and sweet-smelling jasmines in my garden. The whoosh of the garden hose will pierce the evening stillness while I languorously lounge on my hammock watching my children play limbo in the sprinklers.

The living room will have huge windows that will give a great countryside view. I'll drape them with beguiling valances and crown them with raw silk curtains. The walls will be adorned by tapestries and colorful paintings. The furniture will be informal and refreshingly simple. A panoply of cushions and cashmere throws on the couch and daybed will be inviting to curl up with a book and a cup of coffee or have an after-lunch snooze. A rocking cushioned arm chair in a quiet corner, perhaps by a window with a lovely view will be a welcome refuge. Cool flagstones and marble ceramic tiling for my folks who love to stretch on the floor. In one corner an exotic Dracaena silk plant will handsomely stand tall in a humongous pot.

My kitchen will have the old-world charm along with today's functional amenities where I would relish the aromas wafting through air when I cook. It will remind me of my mother and her cooking. A collection of earthenwares and yelloware, the pottery with home-grown bonsais will make it even more pleasant and warm.

The bedroom will be simple, subtle and sensual. A pristine white cozy room with a canopy bed swathed in a luxurious fabric and dressed in tightly wrapped linens. The coziness of chintz-covered walls, the country furniture, the cool repose of recessed lighting, the sweetness of airy tulle curtains, hand-crafted quilts, daintily embroidered chenille pillowcases, scented candles and tinkling melodious wind chimes will complete the most special room in my house.

Bathrooms will be scrupulously hygienic which would serve a luxurious pampering retreat.

A studio work space where I can spend quiet moments of contemplation. It will include a shelf full of books to satiate my yearning for words, a bunch of crochet threads waiting to be crafted into beautiful patterns, a piano and a harmonica to suffice my musical essences and artists’ accessories to nurture my creative cravings.

The spaces in the house will vibrate in unison like a chord on the organ.

The presence of my family and friends will make my house a home, my dream home. A symbol of security, an introverted world made up of warmth and affection, my home will mimic the imperfections and beauty of life…

Thought for the day

Sometimes you're flush and sometimes you're bust, and when you're up, it's never as good as it seems, and when you're down, you never think you'll be up again. But life goes on.
~ From the movie, Blow

User-id image meme

It's friday, folks. Time for some fun. 3 simple steps, please play sport. Here's what you do.
  1. Search on Google images for your user-id. Be it your blog-id or chat-id or msn-id or yahoo-id or whatever you are pretty much known by.
  2. Pick the most suitable image(s) that match your user-id (even tho if its an embarrasing image) and post them on your blog/site.
  3. Drop me a link to your site.

For folks, who need help in uploading pictures on their blog, go here

This is what I came up with for my user-id Dewdrop

The breeze and the dew make tranquil the clear dawn;
Behind the curtain there is one who alone is up betimes.
The orioles sing and the flowers smile-
Whose then, after all, is the Spring?
-- Li Shang-Yin (813-858)

And btw....

Many many happy returns of the day dear Sebia

For some weird reason, I cannot post comments on any of my fellow-bloggers blogs. Whatever you did guys, change your settings and let me in :)

Happy Women's Day

"Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies." ~Prov. 31

Today is International Women's Day. Also March is the month for Women's history. This calls for celebration. Lets wish the women in our life.. be it our mother, sister, grandmother, wife, sweetheart, friends, in-laws or loved ones a 'Happy Women's Day' and thank them for the special role they play in our life.

And yes, just in time, welcome back, Martha!
