Nothing really

I came across this on my blogpatrol log. Its Spanish, I guess. Has anyone ever seen anything like this ??
Not that I am idle these days, its one of those work moment respites that leads me into such unexplored territories and activities of the web. There's enough happening at the moment for me to actually stop, stand and let the events sink in. While I continue to love and live my share of life, folks around are leaving for vacations, calendars choc-a-bloc with deadlines and friends bidding farewells. I am waiting for that last elusive drop of water clinging stubbornly to the leaf, to fall into my parched throat. Then, I too shall leave, one day.

Three Cheers

Three wants of the day:

-Ipod (oh my my!)
-New shirt (blue or black?)
-A bracelet (with charms aplenty)

Three thoughts floating in my head today:

-What should I get for lunch today (maybe a grilled chicken roll)
-I want to live alone (yes, I seriously do)
-I want no place for ego in friendship Forgive and forget is my motto. (do you qualify?)

Three things three different people said to me today:

-You are a strong person (yeah, right!)
-You look lovely (whatever)
-You are so funny (aisa kya? :P)

Three people who created a mark on me today:

-A lady on the bus who was knitting an intricate pattern (been a while I held the knitting needles)
-The fruit vendor (she always does. Today she was wearing such gawdy bangles)
-Richard, who downloaded a cool new software for me (you are the best Rich)

Three discoveries of the day:

-I discovered my college alumni group. Also contacted some of my ol' friends. (Im touched so gloriously)
-I like the sight of birds flying in the endless blue. But even more, I like to see a bird eating to its hearts content (feeding a bird is so rewarding)
-Women are incorrigible matchmakers (no remarks)

My bathroom talents

I notice that when no one's looking, I occasionally dance a furtive step or two. That would make me a bathroom dancer. The bathroom, as we all know and do not admit, is the temple of all art. (And science too, going by Archimedes.) It is the one place that provides such security and comfort that inhibitions go gurgling down the drain. I, for instance, am a bathroom singer and a bathroom dancer. As a bathroom painter my fingers can't resist foggy mirrors. I'm a bathroom installation artist; my finely directed streams do things with naphthalene balls in the drains that Marcel Duchamp could only dream of. In fact, coming clean, I seem to be a whole academy of bathroom arts.

Now that I'm out of the closet, anyone for a dance? I'm not very good, but I promise to put my best foot forward. And perhaps I could teach you a move or two with the towel.

My happiness

My car dies in the morning, the road construction creates traffic jams, I get late to work, my cell phone is uncharged, 2 out of 3 building elevators are out of order, I miss my 10am orientation!

Just when my mind is tampering with confusion, I see this treasure in my mailbox. Her smiling face is a definite solution to kill my monday morning blues.

Some facts I guess...

Your Birthdate: June 12

Being born on the 12th day of the month (3 energy) is likely to add a good bit of vitality to your life.

The energy of 3 allows you bounce back rapidly from setbacks, physical or mental.

There is a restlessness in your nature, but you seem to be able to portray an easygoing, sometimes "couldn't care less" attitude.

You have a natural ability to express yourself in public, and you always make a very good impression.

Good with words, you excel in writing, speaking, and possibly singing.

You are energetic and always a good conversationalist.

You have a keen imagination, but you tend to scatter your energies and become involved with too may superficial matters.

Your mind is practical and rational despite this tendency to jump about.

You are affectionate and loving - but very sensitive.

You are subject to rapid ups and downs.

What Does Your Birth Date Mean?

And now ladies, here is some food for your skin..

Feelings, emotionally and physically, determine the look of your skin. According to the science of Ayurveda, emotions, health and beauty are inseperable. This 5000 year old science of longetivity considers us to be born in perfect balance of 3 qualities or doshas - water, air and fire - with one being a dominant source of balance. If you do not know your primary dosha, not to worry. BodyBistro has an ingenious, fun elixir test which determines this instantly. There are also several products which bring health and healing to all three doshas. In this category I sampled the "Bamboo and Wine Body Buff" and "Tapioca and Soy Bath Infusion". Both really smelled and looked like a delicious food and my skin ate it up as though it had been starving.

Late night musing

My head hurts. My eyes are burning. Sleep is elusive. Peace, a luxury. My head brews a zig zag of thoughts. Some vain. Some insightful. But thoughts are pious to me, never to be ignored, however insignificant they may seem at that given moment. Every thought is a key to a precious memory that lived its moment before proceeding to give way to its other counterparts.

When we ask for someone's advice, 99% of the time, we aren't looking for new insights, but rather confirmation of what in our hearts, we've already decided to do.

The city of lights – Paris.

Commenting on Keshi’s recent post, I decided to write up about the French city which bewitched me to no end.

No other city in Europe can match Paris' charm, glamour, beauty, and romanticism. The city is enriched with beautiful art, gothic monuments, ornate sculptures, mighty museums, sweeping avenues, grand esplanades, exquisite architecture and so much more that you have to actually be there to experience it.

Ever since I took up French as the third language in school, I wanted to visit Paris. The people in the textbook (the Vincent family), the places mentioned in it, the quaint black & white illustrations contained in it... all conjured up vivid images of a beautiful city full of enchanting sights to see.

And last year, I lived my dream when I visited Paris.

Paris is undoubtedly the city to fall in love with. It has lots to offer. Here are highlights of a few attractions that entranced me.

Place de la Concorde, the largest and the loveliest of the Parisian squares. For Paris’ streets which boasts buildings whose detailing shows the pride and care permeating Paris's architecture.

The majestic Arc de Triomph monument devoted to Napoleon's and his generals' greatest victories. Also called the city’s heart it provides a constant reminder of Paris' religious and royal past.

The Champs Elysees, arguably the most well known avenue in the world.

The magnificent Operas where performance meets symphonies in the most glamorous styles.

The mighty Louvre museum presents its treassures of best paintings, sculptures, antiques and arts. Lets not forget the famous masterpieces: the Venus of Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, the Mona Lisa of Leonard da Vinci, and so many others.

The gigantic Palace of Versailles which is said to be capable of housing 20,000 people at a time.

The Tuileries Gardens, Louvre Palace's gardens, one of the best places in Paris for a sunbath.

The overwhelming Notre Dame Cathedral and the famous Sacré-Coeur church.

A magical stroll and a cruise on the river Seine where even artists like Sisley, Turner, and Monet have been spell bounded.

The incomparable Eiffel Tower from where a bird's eye view will leave you breathless. The experience of touring the tower to its topmost floor is spectacular.

The variety of gastronomic options for every palate and pocket with thousands of cafés, bars and restaurants lined up at every Parisian street and boulevard.

The delight of shopping around place St-Germain-des-Prés for your favorite perfumes, cosmetics, accessories, books, antiques, gorgeous garments, artworks and souvenirs.

The magical visions of Paris at dusk as it turns into the City of Lights is truly a captivating dream to cherish forever.

How not to get a job

Basically I am not a meeting or a seminar person. These are quite boring for a restless soul like me. I either practicie pen twiddling or pretend to take notes by penning down my own thoughts and scribbling hearts and flowers on the pad. But today's program was not all that bad. The key topic of discussion was Job Interviews. I sometimes have to attend such workshops for what they call 'Professional Development'.

The speaker talked about interview foibles. Sharing with you some accounts of what recruiters at my institution have seen.
  • One candidate admitted she would not pass the drug test. (For Pete's sake, don't they know this is mandatory now?)
  • Another disclosed he only wanted the job for employee discounts. (I call this honesty :))
  • A candidate brought his mom. (This reminds me of my first SSC board exam. Dad came along to the center)
  • Another prospective employee asked for directions to another interview. (Smart move)
  • One person forgot what postion she was applying for but wanted to know how soon she could have ther interviewer's office. (LOL!, I bet she was shown the exit door of the office)
  • A candidate came in wearing pajama bottoms and flip flops. (This is heights of being casual)
  • Another sang the national anthem to make himself memorable. (Well, he was memorable)
  • And last but not the least, a prospective employee brought wine to the interview and offered the interviewer a glass. (Omigod!)

Just words

Last few days were weary and doleful. But now Im up and running. I almost see myself chanting the Doris Day song -

Que sera, sera
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours to see
Que sera, sera
What will be, will be

Some people tend to make up their own lyrics while singing. This reminds me of the most hilarious instance of my younger days.

Apologies to those who don't know Hindi, for the song was in that language. We were a group of kids playing Antakshari. A current hit was Tere jaisa yaar kahaan from the movie Yaarana, which I decided to sing.

One of the stanzas begins with:-
Meri zindagi sanvaari, mujhko gale laga ke,
baittha diya phalak pe, mujhe khaak se uttha ke

With great gusto, I sang:
Meri zindagi sanvaari, mujhko gale laga ke,
baittha diya palang pe, mujhe khaat se uttha ke

To this day, the memory never fails to make me smile :)
