New York Minute
New York happens to be the sixth safest state in the country as per the latest stats. Interesting to know the crimes are dropping. I guess the criminals are getting too fat to run after people. Or maybe its cos of the the high gas prices. It costs a bit too much to rob with a car, and they are too fat to run, remember. Or perhaps its the TV which lowers the crime rate. Everyone wants to stay home to watch the reality shows about who’s stabbing whose back, while eating doritos and saving on gas money :P
Driving strangers around town can be stressful and all that sitting can cause necks to stiffen and lower backs to ache and tempers to rise. Cabbies should be offered yoga and massages to relieve their holiday driving stress.
The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree lighting ceremony is held in the evening of every Nov 30th. The magnificent tree stands in front of the General Electric building in Rockefeller Plaza and is illuminated with thousands of lights. Every year I go over to see the tree and the light decorations, walk around the city streets and feel the holiday excitement. This year's tree is a stunning 74 feet tall Norway Spruce from Wayne, NJ weighs nine tons and is topped with a Swarovski star. The entire neighborhood - the 5th Avenue, the NBC Studios, the shops and the skating rink around the Rockefeller Center is beautifully decorated. It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas. Oh, so magical.
Everybody have a wonderful holiday season.
