Its around the corner

The dirty secret about Valentine’s Day is that everybody hates it. You’d say - Um no, they don’t. Infact everyone loves this day. Its only when their V-day sucks they don’t like it.

The opportunity to theoretically receive diamonds, roses, chocolates, love letters, cards, lingerie and sex?? Oh, the cliché of it all – consumerism! Those gifts are popular because pretty much everyone loves them. It’s a rare rare woman who will be upset to receive any of the aforementioned gifts. And it’s a rare man who will be unhappy with the thought of an evening spent with a woman and her new lingerie. Are those stereotypes? Hell yes, they are :P

I’ve learned one thing from my impressive steak of not quite romantic valentine days. It’s the holiday that rarely goes well for procrastinators. That’s why you folks have ample of time 21 days to be precise - to madly fall in love with a tall, dark, handsome or a short, fair, hot stranger and hell lose 20 lbs while you are at it. Or barring that, find the next best thing - the guy at the gym, or the girl next door, the boss of your ex-bf/gf and flirt like you are on some reality show with a 2 week deadline and a significant cash prize.

If you’ve already snagged a living, breathing boyfriend of your own, don’t encourage him to be ‘creative’. Men don’t understand what that means. Instead encourage him to think of all the romantic clichés and buy into each of them. In other words, get off your snarky about Im too hip to-visit-Hallmark and plan something ridiculously romantic and cheesy beacuse one day of the year there is nothing wrong in enjoying the banal fantasy of it all just like you enjoy surreal Disney movies :)

As for me, Im going to go rent my favorite Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve got mail. So guys tell me about your plans and I will live vicariously through you :)
